A second Hardin County teen has died as the result of a rollover crash on St. John Road early Saturday morning.
The Hardin County Sheriff’s Office said deputies responded to a single-vehicle crash in the 3700 block of St. John Road just before 2:30 a.m.
Police said a vehicle, driven by 17 year-old Gerald Lyons from Eastview, was headed east when he lost control and left the roadway on the left shoulder and rolled multiple times. Lyons was ejected and sustained life-threatening injuries.
Lyons was taken to Baptist Health Hardin then airlifted to UofL Hospital in critical condition where he succumbed to his injuries Saturday evening.
Police said Tristen Shrouder was a passenger in the front-seat and was also ejected and died at the scene.
Two other juvenile passengers sustained minor injuries and were taken to Baptist Health Hardin.
Lyons and Shrouder were both juniors at Central Hardin High School.
Hardin County School students and staff are on spring break this week but Central Hardin High School Principal Tim Isaacs announced a crisis response team would have counselors available in their library media center from 10 a.m. until Noon on Monday for those who need it.
