
On April 1, state troopers responded to a two-vehicle injury collision in Monroe County.
The preliminary investigation revealed that 19-year-old Ty Graves, of Tompkinsville, was traveling west on County House Road on a 2007 Honda motorcycle when he attempted to overtake another vehicle, also traveling west on County House Road, in a no-passing zone.
According to state police, he didn’t see a 2023 Ford Explorer traveling east on the road, driven by 76-year-old Marilyn Deweese, also of Tompkinsville, colliding with it.
Graves was transported to a local hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased by the Monroe County Coroner.
Deweese sustained minor injuries during the collision and was transported to a local hospital for treatment.
Kentucky State Police was assisted at the scene by the Monroe County Sheriff’s Department, Monroe County Fire/EMS and the Monroe County Coroner.
The collision remains under investigation by the Kentucky State Police.
