A man was found dead in a submerged vehicle in Nelson County on Saturday, according to the Nelson County Sheriff’s Office.
Nelson County dispatch was notified of a water rescue around 3:40 a.m. Saturday, April 5.
Authorities found a man trapped inside his car in the 2800 block of Nelsonville Road. The car was fully submerged in water.
When responders got to the car they found a 74-year-old man deceased inside.
The man’s name is being withheld until family can be notified of his death.
Nelson County Sheriff’s Office said “Turn Around, Don’t Drown” is more than a saying. It is the difference between life and death.
It takes a foot or two of flowing water to wash vehicles off the roadway, but only six inches of flowing water will knock a person off their feet so remember the slogan – Turn Around, Don’t Drown.
