A North Carolina woman has filed a lawsuit in Fayette Circuit Court accusing an employee in the Fayette County Attorney’s Office of secretly recording her while she was nude.
The woman was staying in a downtown Lexington apartment ahead of her April 6, 2024, wedding. According to the lawsuit, the incident happened on April 4, 2024 while she was receiving a spray tan in front of a window.
She claims she noticed a man across the street, inside the County Attorney’s Office, pointing his phone toward her. The complaint alleges the man, identified only as an “unknown assistant county attorney,” appeared to be filming or photographing her.
The lawsuit states the man turned off his office light after being seen, but continued holding his phone in her direction.
Through her attorney, the woman requested access to the phone to ensure no images remained. The suit claims Fayette County Attorney Angela Evans denied that request.
Both Evans and the unidentified employee are named in the complaint. The lawsuit includes claims of negligence, voyeurism, and the non-consensual distribution of sexually explicit images.
The woman is seeking damages for emotional distress, invasion of privacy, and what she alleges was a failure to properly supervise the employee.
