Human remains were found east of Lexington on Trent Ridge Road in Rowan County, the coroner’s office said Monday.
The Rowan County Coroner’s Office said a man and his son were hiking along the ridge in the southeastern part of the country when they found what appeared to be skeletal remains. The coroner confirmed the remains were human.
Investigators with the coroner’s office, the Rowan County Sheriff’s Department and Kentucky State Police are searching the area for evidence of what happened to the person.
The State Medical Examiner’s Office in Frankfort will assist in identifying the remains.
