An investigation has been launched into Kentucky’s Medical Cannabis Program.
According to a press release, Auditor Allison Ball is investigating how the Office of Medical Cannabis handled the rollout of the state’s new medical marijuana program.
Ball says her office has received multiple complaints about the fairness of the lottery used to award medical cannabis business licenses.
Ball said Kentuckians should have confidence that state offices operate with transparency and integrity, and her office is committed to ensuring those standards.
The audit will begin with a review of the business license application and award process used by the Office of Medical Cannabis.
The Kentucky Medical Cannabis Program officially launched earlier this year, following legislative approval in 2023.
