A man accused of murdering a southern Indiana woman was arrested in Louisville Tuesday.
According to Jefferson County, Indiana, Sheriff Ben Flint, deputies were called to a home on Hickory Drive in Hanover, Indiana, Monday to conduct a welfare check.
Inside the home, 35 year-old Wilma Robertson, of Hanover, was found dead. Flint said the sheriff’s office began conducting a death investigation, but did not elaborate on how Robertson died or when.
Tuesday, the sheriff’s office filed charges against 33 year-old Shawn Bailey, of Louisville, for Robertson’s murder.
Bailey was arrested just before 11 a.m. Tuesday in Louisville and is being held at Louisville Metro Department of Corrections awaiting extradition to Indiana, where a hearing will be scheduled in Jefferson Circuit Court.
Flint said the investigation into Robertson’s death is ongoing, and is asking anyone with information in the case to call Detective Yancy Denning, with the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office, at (812) 274-3755.
