
A man was shot and killed in the Highlands early Sunday morning.
Louisville Metro Police Department responded to a reported shooting at the intersection of Bardstown Road and Baxter Avenue on April 20, around 3:30 a.m. At the scene, officers found a man inside a car that had crashed into another vehicle and had been shot in the leg.
Responding officers began rendering first aid to the man until EMS and Louisville Fire Department arrived at the scene. Once there, EMS transported the victim to UofL Hospital where he died from his injuries.
LMPD’s homicide unit discovered the shooting had taken place in the 1000 block of Bardstown Road just north of the Taco Bell before the victim escaped to his car. He managed to drive a short distance before crashing into another vehicle. The driver of the other car was taken to the hospital with non-serious injuries and is expected to live.
