A man has been charged after entering a person’s garage and stealing their belongings.
On April 21, the Christian County Sheriff’s Office Detective Division began investigating a residential burglary after a homeowner reported stolen items from a vehicle parked in her attached garage in the area of Orten Drive.
Surveillance footage provided by the homeowner showed a suspect who was later identified as 54-year-old Billy Sanders of Hopkinsville. According to the sheriff’s office, he was seen unlawfully entering the garage through a partially open door.
Once inside, Sanders removed a purse containing cash and debit/credit cards from the victim’s vehicle.
Based on prior encounters, detectives were able to positively identify him. He has been charged with second-degree Burglary.
