A former Caverna High School basketball coach and special education teacher has been arrested after an investigation into a video circulating online.
Terrence Miles, 37, was arrested on charges of first-degree criminal abuse, second-degree wanton endangerment, and first-degree official misconduct.
He submitted his resignation Friday morning during a meeting where Superintendent Amanda Abell had planned to terminate his employment.
This comes after a video was leaked to social media showing two students whipping another student with a belt while he lay on the ground. Miles handled the belt at one point and was seen laughing during the incident.
He was lodged at the Hart County Jail, where he remains without bond. He is scheduled to appear in court on May 5 at 8:30 a.m.
