Owensboro Police officers and the Street Crimes Unit detectives performed a search warrant in the 800 block of Clay Street Wednesday (05/14) morning.
Marshall Griffith Jr., 27 of Owensboro, was arrested as a result of the search. Detectives seized over 28 grams of suspected fentanyl pills. Those pills were near Griffith’s 1-year-old child.
Officers and detectives also found and seized marijuana, oxycodone pills, cash, and other evidence consistent with drug trafficking. According to the department, law enforcement discovered evidence suggesting Griffith tried to destroy drugs before surrendering.
During the operation, officers also encountered several aggressive dogs. Animal Control Officers with the Daviess County Sheriff’s Office were called to safely handle and remove the animals.
Griffith is charged with the following:
Aggravated Trafficking in a Controlled Substance
Trafficking in Controlled Substance (1st degree)
Trafficking in Marijuana
Endangering the Welfare of a Minor
Drug Paraphernalia,
Tampering with Physical Evidence
No dogs were harmed, and the child is in the care of a relative.
Griffith is being held in the Daviess County Detention Center under a $10,000 cash bond. He is scheduled to appear in court on May 21.
