Kentucky Transportation District 2 is warning drivers about a month-long closure at Tom’s Branch Creek along the KY 136 corridor in Madisonville.
Various road projects will begin June 2 including replacing a concrete culvert, replacing bridges and improving grading and drainage systems.
Part of this construction comes from Kentucky Transportation Cabinet’s $9.6 million, multi-year road improvement project that will also replace bridges over Stillhouse Branch, Hanley Creek, Barnett Creek, Little No Creek and No Creek.
Because a temporary bridge cannot be placed at Tom’s Branch Creek, there will be marked detours drivers can use such as U.S. 431, KY 85, KY 69 and U.S. 231.
The No Creek bridge will close later this year and is expected to be back open in April of 2026. Following this project, they will complete construction on the new Barnett Creek bridge.
In the summer of 2026, the Stillhouse Branch will also be closed for a month to install a new arch culvert bridge. That is expected to be completed in October.
