
A Monday night traffic stop on Hugh Hunter Road resulted in the arrest of a man facing multiple charges after running from police.
A Christian County Sheriff’s deputy observed 48-year-old Michael Mimms of Guthrie make an improper turn and initiated a traffic stop. The vehicle stopped in the roadway, and Mimms showed signs of impairment.
After failing field sobriety tests, he resisted arrest and fled on foot. While running, he was seen discarding a container into nearby grass. He was quickly apprehended after a Taser deployment.
The container was found to contain two baggies of suspected crack cocaine and powdered cocaine totaling approximately 4 grams. A large amount of cash was also recovered.
Mimms was medically cleared and consented to a blood test. He faces the following charges:
Improper Turning
Failure to Yield to Emergency Vehicle
Operating a Motor Vehicle Under the Influence (1st Offense)
Fleeing or Evading Police (2nd Degree, on foot)
Tampering with Physical Evidence
Trafficking in Controlled Substance, 1st Degree (2nd or > offense, <4g Cocaine)
Trafficking in Controlled Substance, 1st Degree (1st offense, Schedule I & II)
Resisting Arrest
He was lodged in the Christian County Jail under a $10,000 cash bond.
