The former Rolling Fork Volunteer Fire Department Chief has been indicted on multiple counts including abusing public trust and theft.
Court documents from a Nelson County Grand Jury show that John Taylor Skaggs has been indicted on charges of abusing public trust in an amount less than $100,000, official misconduct and theft.
Skaggs is accused of using funds from the department for personal use, including the use of an official gas credit card to fill his own vehicle over the course of a year.
He is also accused of taking funds from the City of New Haven. Skaggs was suspended in January of 2025 and resigned as chief shortly after.
He will be arraigned on June 18.
