A person has been arrested by police and charged with using a weapon of mass destruction after a fire at a hotel in Lyndon.
According to Chief Robert Schroeder of the Lyndon Police Department, officers were called to Spring Hill Suites at 10101 Forest Green Boulevard around 12:20 p.m. Friday after a guest, 37 year-old Leonard Pitchford, failed to check out of a room and would not respond to communication attempts by hotel staff.
Schroeder said when hotel staff tried to open the door, something inside the room caused a fire. Lyndon officers used fire extinguishers to put the fire out.
Firefighters from St. Matthews, along with AFT agents and members of the Louisville Metro Police Department Bomb Squad responded to the scene.
Pitchford is being held in the Louisville Metro Department of Corrections and is charged with 43 counts of wanton endangerment, use of a weapon of mass destruction, and arson.
