
Kentucky State Police Post 15 arrested a Metcalfe County man following an investigation into a shooting reported on Thursday.
The incident began just before 4 p.m. on June 19, when Kentucky State Police Post 15 received a request for assistance from the Metcalfe County Sheriff’s Office. Authorities were called to a report of gunshots near a residence on Summer Shade Road in Metcalfe County.
As troopers were responding, they learned a man with a gunshot wound had arrived at Cumberland County Hospital in Burkesville. Troopers then went to the hospital and identified the victim as 33-year-old Nicholas Marzette of Louisville.
The preliminary investigation revealed that 27-year-old Noah Neal of Willow Shade and Marzette were involved in an altercation at the Summer Shade Road residence. During the confrontation, Neal reportedly discharged a firearm, striking Marzette twice. Marzette was treated at Cumberland County Hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.
Following the investigation, Neal was arrested and charged with:
First degree assault
Discharging a firearm across a public road
Neal is lodged in the Adair County Detention Center.
The incident remains under investigation by the Kentucky State Police.
