A Campbellsville man will spend one year in prison after he was convicted of crop insurance fraud.
The United States Department of Justice said in a news release Thursday that 61 year-old Robert Hunt sold crops under other people’s names between 2014-2021 and significantly underreported his true production on crop insurance claim forms.
In total, Hunt’s claims resulted in $1.6 million fraudulent insurance overpayments, according to the Department of Justice. He pleaded guilty March 27, 2025.
On August 26, he was sentenced to 12 months and 1 day in federal prison, fined $250,000 and ordered to pay more than $1.6 million and restitution.
