
A man has been arrested for murder after allegedly pushing his 5-year-old son down the stairs of a home in the 2900 block of Conestoga Avenue in the Park DuValle neighborhood .
According to Louisville Metro Police, officers have arrested 24-year-old Laron D. Gardner in connection with the death of his son on Wednesday, September 3.
According to Gardner’s arrest slip, he told officers his 5-year-old son had fallen down the stairs, however, EMS believed that the child’s injuries were inconsistent with the suspect’s story.
The victim was taken to Norton Children’s Hospital, where he passed away his their injuries.
Forensic examination revealed the victim had severe injuries in multiple areas, which were consistent with the child being assaulted.
Investigation revealed that Gardner was alone with the victim and his 4-year-old sister at the time of the incident.
Gardner is believed to have assaulted his son before pushing him down the stairs.
The victim’s sister informed police that Gardner had also kicked her in the chest while she was lying on the floor.
Gardner is being held in the Louisville Metro Department of Corrections and charged with Murder-Domestic Violence; Criminal Abuse 1st Degree, Child 12 & Under; and Assault, 4th Degree (Child Abuse).
