On September 18, 2025 around 2:22PM, the Elizabethtown Police Department responded to a reported road rage incident that escalated to gunfire along Ring Road and Leitchfield Road near Central Hardin High School.
The incident began when an adult male and adult female victim were traveling on Ring Road in a Ford Maverick and were cut off by a Dodge Dart driven by 50 year-old Jeremy Yates, of Eastview. Both vehicles stopped at a red light, where a verbal altercation occurred. During the exchange, a baseball bat was displayed, and Yates deployed bear spray on the victims.
The victims attempted to leave the scene, but Yates pursued them along Ring Road. Yates then continued to follow the Maverick, making multiple turns before eventually cutting off the victims near Central Hardin High School.
Yates then exited his vehicle armed with a firearm. In fear, the adult male victim drove toward Yates, striking his vehicle and then attempting to drive away. At that point, Yates discharged his firearm twice.
