Kentucky will hold a special election in December to fill a state Senate seat from Louisville.
It is for a vacancy left by David Yates’ appointment as Jefferson County clerk.
Yates was sworn in during a ceremony Wednesday at Metro Hall.
Secretary of State Michael Adams said the District 37 election will take place December 16. The seat covers the area south of Shively, west of the airport and north of Valley Station.
Whoever is elected to the seat will serve until January 2029.
