Four teens are behind bars and accused of firing multiple bullets at a Kentucky home before fleeing in a stolen vehicle in Hopkinsville on Wednesday.
The three 16-year-olds and one 17-year-old were booked into the McCracken County Juvenile Detention Center and are facing multiple charges.
Detectives say the teens are connected to a car theft that happened on Wednesday in the Moores Drive area. After the theft, Hopkinsville Police allege that the group used the vehicle, a dark-colored sedan, as the getaway car when they hit a home along Clarktown Landing with multiple gunshots.
Detectives with the Hopkinsville Police Department began investigating and confirmed that the stolen vehicle was indeed the same vehicle seen fleeing the scene of the shooting.
The investigation identified one person associated with the stolen vehicle and other evidence. Police say they used that information to obtain a search warrant for a home on Lewis Street.
The Hopkinsville Police Department’s SWAT Team helped officers search the home, where authorities arrested four teens and found four guns. Two of those firearms were stolen, according to police.
One firearm had been reported stolen from a residence in Crofton earlier this year, and another from a residence in Hopkinsville in 2018. Detectives also seized multiple cell phones as part of the investigation.
Police reported that the arrestees and their charges are as follows:
16-year-old male: Possession of a Handgun by a Minor, 1st Offense and Receiving Stolen Property (Firearm)
16-year-old male: Possession of a Handgun by a Minor, 1st Offense
17-year-old male: Possession of a Handgun by a Minor, 1st Offense and Receiving Stolen Property (Firearm)
16-year-old male: Wanton Endangerment 1st Degree, Criminal Mischief 1st Degree, Receiving Stolen Property (Auto), and Possession of a Handgun by a Minor, 1st Offense.
Hopkinsville Police reported that the investigation remains ongoing and more charges are expected to be filed.
