Three people were killed and five more were injured in a crash late Friday night on North Jackson Highway in Glasgow.
The Glasgow Police Department responded to the intersection of Veterans Outer Loop and North Jackson Highway shortly after 11:30 p.m. Friday.
The investigation found a Nissan Altima, driven by 18 year-old Asa Howard of Edmonton, was traveling northbound on North Jackson Highway and traveled through the intersection of Veterans Outer Loop.
Howard’s vehicle collided with a Toyota Highlander traveling eastbound on Veterans Outer Loop, driven by Timothy Houchens of Glasgow.
Asa Howard and a passenger, 18 year-old Caden French from Glasgow, were transported by the Barren-Metcalfe EMS to T.J. Samson Hospital, where they were life-flighted to an area hospital for their injuries.
Jabari Sweat, 21, a passenger in Howard’s vehicle and from Glasgow, was transported to T.J. Samson for his injuries and was later released.
Emily Corbin, 18, a passenger in Howard’s vehicle and from Hart County, was pronounced dead.
Additionally, a 17-year-old passenger from Edmonton and a 14-year-old were pronounced dead. Their identities remain unknown at this time.
Houchens was transported by a personal vehicle. A passenger, identified as Stephen Estes, was transported to T.J. Samson Hospital by the Hart County EMS for his injuries.
Glasgow Police Department confirmed alcohol is listed as a contributing factor on the initial report but said toxicology reports were not finalized yet.
The preliminary investigation was conducted by Officer John Dubarry, assisted by the Barren-Metcalfe EMS, Glasgow-Barren County Emergency Management, Hart County EMS, Glasgow Fire Department, Barren County Sheriff Department, and the Kentucky State Police.
The accident remains under investigation.
