
A Norton Commons man was arrested and charged with possessing and distributing child pornography on Wednesday.
According to an arrest report, 39-year-old Michael Booth was arrested on October 22 after police say he was identified as the alleged owner of a Kik social media account that was reported to have distributed child sexual abuse material and child pornography to other Kik users from August 5, 2025, to August 7, 2025.
A search warrant return from Kik reportedly confirmed the distribution from a Kik account and the possession of the material in the account.
Additionally, the arrest report says a subpoena return for the IP address involved in the investigation came back as Booth’s home address.
The content files that were obtained with the search warrant included three files depicting minors under the age of 12, which were distributed at least 12 times according to log files, and three files of minors over the age of 12, which were distributed at least 15 times.
Booth is being charged with both possession and distribution of matter portraying a sexual performance by a minor.
Booth appeared in court on Thursday. The judge issued a $100,000 bond. If Booth were to post bond, he would be placed on home incarceration and won’t be allowed any access to the internet.
Booth is due back in court on October 31.
