A man, who police say brandished a weapon toward officers after shooting a woman, has died, according to Louisville Metro Police.
The incident occurred just after 2 a.m. Monday in the 5500 block of Ridgecrest Road. A woman had been shot.
When officers arrived, before they were able to get to the female shooting victim, they were approached in the street by a man who was holding a handgun.
Officers ordered the man to drop his weapon. The man continued walking toward the officers while holding his weapon up.
One officer fired his service weapon, striking the man at least one time.
Officers rendered medical aid to both the suspect and the victim. Both were transported to University Hospital in critical condition. LMPD confirms the man has died from his injuries.
The Jefferson County Coroner identified the man as 20-year-old Frank Mejia Aguilar.
