
Louisville Metro police have announced the arrest of a man in connection with the death of a child over a year ago.
On October 27, 24 year-old Gregory Ford Jr. was indicted by a grand jury on a murder charge in relation to the death of a 1-year-old Evani McAfee-Wooten, Louisville Metro Police Department confirmed.
Police said the incident happened on August 21, 2024. Officers were called to an ‘assist fire run’ in the 1500 block of Haskin Avenue on the report of a 1-year-old girl unconscious and not breathing. Evani McAffee-Wooten was taken to Norton Children’s Hospital, where she later died.
The Jefferson County Coroner confirmed that she died of blunt force injuries.
According to Louisville Metro Police Department, Ford is currently in Louisville Metro Corrections for this case and for charges of strangulation and fourth-degree assault involving a different victim.
