
Several candidates have filed paper work this week for the upcoming election next year.
According to the Meade County Clerk’s Office the following have filed as candidates (* denotes incumbent):
Troy Kok – Judge Executive (R)*
Susan Masterson – County Clerk (R)*
Sidney Durham – County Attorney (R)*
Bric Pace – Sheriff (R)
J.J. Scarborough – Jailer (R)*
Thomas Goddard – Magistrate 1st District (R)*
Michael Embry – Magistrate 5th District
Residents, who plan on running for a partisan political office, have until the end of business on January 9, 2026 to file the proper paperwork. Non-partisan races such as city races the deadline is later in the year. Other important electoral dates to note include:
December 31, 2025: Last day to change your party affiliation to vote in the May 2026 Primary Election.
January 9, 2026: Last day for candidates to file for May Primary Election.
April 4, 2026: Last day to register to vote for the May Primary Election.
May 5, 2026: Online mail-in Absentee Portal closes.
May 6-13, 2026: Excused In Person Absentee Voting (In Clerk’s Office)
May 14-16, 2026: In Person, No Excuse In person Absentee Voting (Public Library 8A-4P)
May 19, 2026: Primary Election (6A-6P)
