Louisville MSD is warning the public to avoid waterways in southern Jefferson County due to potential contamination from Tuesday’s UPS plane crash.
In a social media post on Friday, Louisville MSD stated that the potential contaminated runoff is primarily in Pond Creek, Northern Ditch and Southern Ditch.
Louisville MSD also released a media advisory that stated the incident did not impact drinking water from Louisville Water Company unless you have been directly contacted by the company.
MSD says they began monitoring nearby streams shortly after the crash on November 4 and took immediate action to absorb oil by deploying booms.
A UPS contractor has begun the cleanup process. Anyone with questions about the cleanup is encouraged to refer to www.aboutups.com.
Anyone who sees oil, debris or discoloration in waterways is asked to call (502) 540-6000 or email customerrelations@LouisvilleMSD.org.
