An investigation into a fraud scheme has led to the arrest of a Bowling Green man.
On November 18, the Bowling Green Police Department, along with Postal Inspectors from the US Postal Service, executed a search warrant at a local hotel as part of an ongoing check fraud investigation.
During the operation, officers arrested 45-year-old Joseph Cockroft. The department alleges that he has been creating fictitious checks and recruiting individuals to negotiate those checks at various financial institutions.
He was charged with the following:
Engaging in Organized Crime
Criminal Possession of a Forged Instrument 2nd Degree
Possession of a Forgery Device
Cockroft was lodged in the Warren County Regional Jail under a $25,000 cash bond and is scheduled to appear in court on November 25.
The investigation remains ongoing.
