GE Appliances announced Thursday that more than $150 million in new contracts have been awarded to U.S.-based suppliers across 10 states for steel, resins, parts and components.
The investment will be the catalyst for some changes locally, with the company’s new washer and combo washer/dryer plant being built at its Louisville headquarters.
These new supplier contracts are incremental to the $490 million investment to expand laundry production in Louisville that GE Appliances announced earlier this year.
The contracts are the first of many economic ripple effects from GE Appliances’ broader, five-year, $3 billion commitment to strengthen its U.S. manufacturing footprint, reshore certain production, and create more than 1,000 high-quality jobs across the country.
In Kentucky, more than $40 million in contracts will be awarded to four plastics suppliers in Kentucky, where the company has been manufacturing appliances for American consumers since the 1950s. GE Appliances partners with 481 Kentucky suppliers, spending $318 million annually.
In Indiana, more than $14 million in contracts are being given to three suppliers in Indiana. GE Appliances spends $255 million annually with 288 Indiana suppliers.
The supplier contracts span 10 states and a range of critical industries, from plastics and castings to steel and aluminum.
Production of new washers and washer/dryer combos is slated to begin at Appliance Park in Louisville, Kentucky, in early 2027.
