
A report of an assault involving a teen ended with a Smiths Grove man behind bars.
On Friday, November 21, a deputy with the Barren County Sheriff’s Office was dispatched to the T.J. Samson Hospital for a 17-year-old who was a victim of an assault.
According to the citation, the responding deputy spoke with the teen. The young male said his mother had permitted him to live with a 35-year-old Michael George of Smiths Grove.
The victim said George and his fiancée had been drinking. George accused the teen of flirting with his fiancée and then struck him multiple times. The teen has multiple fractures to his face, and the deputy observed marks around his neck.
The victim was transported to the University of Kentucky Hospital for facial surgery.
George was arrested and taken to the Barren County Detention Center. He was charged with first-degree criminal abuse and first-degree strangulation (non-domestic violence).
