On November 22, the Barren County Sheriff’s Office and the Kentucky State Police responded to reports of a female being shot in the neck in the driveway of a home on Indian Mills Road.
When law enforcement arrived on the scene, they began searching for the injured female, but they were unable to locate her.
According to the citation, authorities attempted to speak with 53-year-old Jamie Skaggs, of Park City, but he refused and attempted to slam the door in their face. He then fled back into the residence.
Multiple agencies were on the scene, including the Barren County Sheriff’s Office, Kentucky State Police, Cave City Police Department, Barren County-Metcalfe EMS, and members of the Park City Volunteer Fire Department.
Two days prior, Skaggs had called the police about trespassers with guns inside his home. On the same day, he also told a deputy that his mother had been shot dead inside a single-wide trailer on the property.
No deceased woman or any individual was found on the property.
Skaggs was arrested and taken to the Barren County Detention Center, where he was charged with a false report that triggered an emergency response.
