The Bowling Green Police have made an arrest after a shooting threat started to circulate on social media Thursday night.
WBKO News received viewer tips about the threat that was a post on Reddit. The suspect said, “On Black Friday I’m shooting up the greenwood mall I recommend not going bc it will be a blood bath. I’m killing everyone in site. Thank you and good riddance.”
Public Information Office Ronnie Ward confirmed to WBKO News around 1:45a.m. Friday a person was in custody.
Jay Gill, 33 of Bowling Green, is facing a number of charges including 2nd Degree Terrorist Threatening.
In the arrest citation, investigators were able to use IP information provided by Reddit to identify the internet provider, which then led them to Gill’s residence.
The officer said Gill denied having a Reddit account but consented to a search of his devices. The investigator was able to find his Reddit subscription. However, the citation stated that the original social media post was deleted.
Gill is also facing a charge of tampering with evidence. He is being held in the Warren County Regional Jail under a $50,000 cash bond.
