With holiday decorating in full swing, Norton Children’s is reminding parents how to keep their kids safe from decor.
Norton says their Kentucky Poison Center gets calls related to decorations every year.
One of their biggest concerns is plants like holly, mistletoe, and Jerusalem Cherry, which all have toxic berries that can fall to the floor.
They say some snow globes contain antifreeze, which can be dangerous if they break, while older ornaments and bubble lights can carry chemicals like lead or mercury.
Norton says one of the best things you can do is keep your eye on your children whenever you introduce anything new to the home.
Experts say that if a child ingests something, don’t try and get them to throw up; just call the Kentucky Poison Center.
