A federal judge ruled that the Trump administration must restore federal funding for housing support through the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development.
The ruling comes after Kentucky, along with 19 other states and the District of Columbia, filed a lawsuit regarding proposed changes to the Continuum of Care Program, according to a press release from the Governor’s Communications Office.
The press release said the changes would have implemented a 30% cap on funding that states can receive for permanent supportive housing projects. The changes also would have required that states reapply for funding previously approved by Congress and awarded in 2024.
More than $21 million in funding will now be restored as a result of the ruling, according to the press release, supporting housing efforts throughout the state.
