
An attempted traffic stop escalated into a police pursuit along Fort Campbell Boulevard in Hopkinsville Thursday afternoon when the driver of a stolen vehicle sped off.
The car narrowly missed multiple other vehicles before ultimately crashing into a semi-truck at the intersection of Fort Campbell Boulevard and Eagle Way.
Hopkinsville Police said that is when the driver, a 20-year-old Donald Brown of Clarksville, hopped out of the wrecked sedan with his passenger, 19-year-old Quintin Benson.
The pair allegedly ran into the nearby JennieCare Urgent Clinic parking lot and attempted to force a woman out of her vehicle and steal it, but they were tased by police and captured.
That woman was a Hopkinsville mother whose 10-month-old was in the back seat at the time of the alleged carjacking.
Police said the suspects were armed with a gun at the time of their arrest.
Brown is charged with First-degree criminal mischief; Resisting arrest; Possession of burglary tools; Carjacking; Two counts of first-degree fleeing or evading police; Two counts of first-degree wanton endangerment and three counts of receiving stolen property. He is being held in the Christian County Detention Center under a $20,000 cash bond.
Benson is charged with First-degree fleeing or evading police; First-degree wanton endangerment of a police officer; Receiving stolen property and Tampering with physical evidence. He is being held in the Christian County Detention Center under a $10,000 cash bond.
Metro Nashville Police confirmed the car was reportedly stolen out of Nashville on Wednesday.
