A Tennessee man charged with murder pleaded guilty Friday, just days before his scheduled trial.
Ryan C. Bagwell, 32, had been set to stand trial starting Tuesday in connection with the July 2024 death of 40 year-old Ashley C. Porter, of Bowling Green. Porter was killed in a head-on crash on Lovers Lane near Briarwood Elementary School and the Warren County Board of Education.
Investigators said Bagwell was driving northbound when he crossed into Porter’s lane of travel.
Bagwell agreed to plead guilty to vehicular homicide while under the influence of a substance, operating a motor vehicle under the influence of a substance (fourth or greater offense), first-degree possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine, first offense), and tampering with physical evidence.
Under the plea agreement, Bagwell faces a total sentence of 30 years in prison. He is scheduled to be sentenced on February 24, 2026.
