A 14-year-old boy is dead after accidentally shooting himself Wednesday evening, according to the Louisville Metro Police Department.
LMPD spokesperson Aaron Ellis said officers responded to a report of a shooting in the 1800 block of Greenwood Avenue around 2:30 p.m.
When officers arrived, they found a 14-year-old boy who had been shot. Officers gave the boy first aid until EMS could arrive.
The boy was taken to UofL Hospital where he died from his injuries.
Early investigation and witness statements lead officials to believe that the 14-year-old accidentally shot himself.
