A Hart County man has passed away from the winter storm.
The Hart County Coroner confirmed that 64-year-old Ricky Turner passed away, raising the Commonwealth’s death toll from the winter storm to 15.
Turner lived alone and did not have central heating or air. He only used space heaters to warm his house, which were not enough.
Authorities received a call for a welfare check on Turner and discovered his body.
The Hart County Coroner stated that Turner’s house “felt like walking into a refrigerator.”
The primary cause of death is suspected to be hypothermia, but official autopsy and toxicology reports are still pending.
