A woman has been charged in connection to a shooting in downtown Louisville early Saturday morning.
Louisville police say 22 year-old Jamia Wilson went to the victim’s residence in the 900 block of West Jefferson Street around 4:30 a.m. on February 7. Police said this came after a prior physical altercation, and Wilson had sent threatening text messages and voicemails before showing up armed with a gun.
Louisville Metro Police Department said Wilson fired at least once, grazing the victim’s right bicep. They were taken to UofL Hospital, where they were treated for minor injuries.
Police said Wilson told officers she waved the gun during a confrontation with the victim but said it discharged accidentally. She also reportedly admitted to throwing the gun under a vehicle, where it was later found by an LMPD K-9 unit, before police arrived.
Wilson has been charged with second-degree assault and tampering with physical evidence. She is being held in the Louisville Metro Department of Corrections.
