A woman is dead after a crash just outside the Valley Station neighborhood that happened Sunday evening.
Officers responded to a report of a crash near the intersection of West Orell Road and Lower River Road around 9:20 p.m., according to LMPD spokesperson Aaron Ellis.
When officers arrived, they found a crash involving two vehicles.
Ellis said early investigation shows that one vehicle, which was heading east on Lower River Road, swerved to get out of the way of a vehicle pulling out of a driveway and hit another vehicle head-on.
The driver of the vehicle that swerved was taken to UofL Hospital and is expected to survive.
The driver of the other vehicle said she was not injured. The passenger of that vehicle was taken to UofL Hospital in critical condition and later died from her injuries on Monday morning.
LMPD’s Traffic Unit is handling the ongoing investigation.
