Eight people were displaced after a fire at an apartment complex in Norton Commons on Wednesday.
According to Anchorage Middletown Fire spokesperson Salvador Melendez, firefighters responded to a call at around 3:49 p.m. of a structure fire in the 11200 block of River Beauty Loop at the Lyric at Norton Commons apartments.
At the scene, first responders found visible flames coming from a balcony on the second story of the brick building.
Units made entry and confirmed that no one was inside the building needing to be rescued.
The main body of the fire was controlled shortly after firefighters arrived, before they worked to put out areas where the fire spread.
Melendez says the second and third stories sustained fire damage, and though the flames didn’t spread to the fourth floor, smoke damage was still sustained.
In total, five units were affected, and eight residents were displaced.
No injuries were reported from the incident.
The cause of the fire has not been released.
