A federal judge has dismissed all charges against the two officers involved in the Breonna Taylor case.
On Friday, March 27, Senior Judge Charles R. Simpson III issued an order to dismiss the case, with prejudice against former Louisville Metro Police Department officers Joshua Jaynes and Kyle Meany.
Earlier this month, the U.S. Department of Justice requested the dismissal of the case “in the interest of justice.”
Breonna Taylor was shot and killed in her home while police were serving a no-knock search warrant. Taylor’s boyfriend, Kenneth Walker, fired a single shot at officers, thinking they were intruders.
Officers fired back, killing Taylor.
Jaynes and Meany were originally accused of using false information to get the warrants that sent officers to Taylor’s apartment on March 13, 2020.
Federal Judges had twice reduced a felony charge against each officer to a misdemeanor, saying there wasn’t a direct link between the false information in the warrant and Taylor’s death.
Charges were originally brought against Jaynes and Meany under the Biden administration’s Department of Justice.
