
Two people are dead and another injured after a woman crashed into a dump truck in Marion County early Monday morning.
According to Kentucky State Police, the crash happened just before 5 a.m. on US 68, also known as the Danville Highway.
Detectives said a preliminary investigation revealed that 43 year-old Mahalia Brown, of Magnolia, Mississippi, was driving west on US 68 when she crossed the centerline and into the path of a dump truck.
Kentucky State Police said the driver of the dump truck tried to avoid hitting Brown’s car by braking and steering, but was unable to do so.
The two vehicles crashed into each other head-on, according to authorities.
Brown and another passenger in her car, 20-year-old Benjamin Thompson, of Magnolia, Mississippi, were pronounced dead at the scene.
Another person in Brown’s car, 22-year-old Darian Thompson, of Magnolia, Mississippi, was transported to Spring View Hospital with serious injuries.
The dump truck driver was also taken to the hospital, but suffered minor injuries in the crash.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation by the Kentucky State Police.
