
Crittenden County Sheriff’s Office officials say one of their deputies has died following an officer involved shooting that happened almost a month ago.
According to a press release, Deputy Rick Coyle passed away Thursday morning after he was shot in the line of duty on April 2.
Officers from the Crittenden County Sheriff’s Office, along with staff from the Kentucky Department of Community Based Services, responded to the 2800 block of KY 365, to serve emergency guardianship paperwork.
During the incident, shots were fired with the suspect, 60-year-old Ronnie Phillips, who was fatally wounded.
Coyle was airlifted to the hospital after being shot but died from his injuries on Thursday, April 30.
