A woman has been charged in connection with a Valley Station hit-and-run that left an 18-year-old in the hospital, according to Louisville Metro Police.
On Friday, August 14, officers responded to a call of a vehicle collision at the intersection of Dixie Highway and Valley Station Road.
At the scene, police found 18-year-old Kingston Maestas, who was biking home when he was hit by a driver who fled the scene following the crash. Maestas was taken to the hospital with what at the time were considered life-threatening injuries.
On Wednesday, August 19, Louisville Metro Police Department announced the arrest of 52-year-old Julie Willis in connection with the incident.
According to Willis’ arrest citation, officers learned that the involved vehicle was a white Jeep Renegade that was registered to the suspect’s boyfriend. The citation states that the car was reported stolen shortly after the crash.
Willis’ boyfriend told Louisville Metro Police she had told him to report the car stolen following the crash and admitted that she had gotten into a collision with a motorcycle and fled the scene. He also told police that Willis moved the vehicle down the street before he called it in as missing.
Officers learned that Willis was staying at her mother’s home and found the car nearby.
According to Louisville Metro Police Department, Willis does not have a driver’s license.
The 52-year-old is charged with leaving the scene of an accident and failing to render aid, fraudulent insurance, tampering with physical evidence, false report of an incident to law enforcement and no operator’s license.
Her arraignment is scheduled for Thursday, August 20.
