A woman has been arrested after a fatal crash on the Greenbelt Highway earlier this month.
Emma Perez, 24, was arrested on Saturday and charged with two counts of second-degree manslaughter, according to jail records.
The crash happened on September 6 near the intersection of the Greenbelt Highway and Greenwood Road.
According to court records, based on witness statements, surveillance video and physical evidence, investigators determined that Perez was making a left turn at a high rate of speed from Greenbelt Highway onto Greenwood Road.
Police said she failed to yield to oncoming traffic and struck the motorcycle, causing the man and woman riding it to be ejected.
Both suffered fatal injuries and died at the hospital.
The Jefferson County Coroner’s Office identified the victims as 58 year-old Andrea Hill and 62 year-old Robert Smallwood, of Seymour, Indiana.
Court records said police found THC cartridges inside Perez’ car during a search. Authorities said the results of a blood and toxicology test remain pending.
Perez is currently being held at Louisville Metro Department of Corrections. She is expected in court for arraignment on Monday, September 21 at 9 a.m.
