A Louisville grand jury charged a 40-year-old woman with the murder of her toddler two years ago.
Erin McGinty was taken into custody Wednesday following a September 15 domestic violence murder indictment.
According to the indictment, McGinty intentionally or wantonly, under circumstances manifesting extreme indifference to human life, caused the death of her 18-month-old son around August 9, 2024.
The Jefferson County Coroner’s Office deemed the child’s cause of death as “complications of congenital heart disease and willful non-compliance with medication administration,” and classified the manner of death as a homicide.
McGinty is being held at the Louisville Metro Department of Corrections on a $250,000 bond.
