A Louisville man is facing felony charges after allegedly kidnapping, sexually abusing and recording a child under 12.
Gary Gardner, 51, was arrested Friday and faces 10 felony charges, including kidnapping, first-degree rape, first-degree sodomy and child grooming, according to Jefferson District Court records.
According to the complaint read by the judge during his arraignment Saturday, Gardner used his cell phone to contact the victim and set up meetings. During those meetings, Gardner allegedly had sexual contact with victim and recorded the interactions.
Court records show Gardner is charged with:
Kidnapping of a minor
First-degree rape (victim under 12 years of age)
Two counts of first-degree sodomy (victim under 12 years of age)
Child grooming (victim under 12 years of age)
Procuring or promoting the use of a minor by electronic means
Promoting a sexual performance by a minor under 16 years of age
Use of a minor under 16 in a sexual performance
Possession of matter portraying a sexual performance by a minor under 12
Distribution of obscene material to minors (first offense)
A judge set Gardner’s bond at $150,000. He was also ordered to have no contact with the victim or any other minors and not to use social media.
