A Louisville man was arrested after authorities said he cashed thousands of dollars in counterfeit U.S. Savings Bonds at local bank branches earlier this year.
, 38, was taken into custody Sunday on an arrest warrant by the Brandenburg Police Department. He faces charges of first-degree criminal possession of a forged instrument and theft by deception of $10,000 or more.
According to an arrest affidavit filed by the Louisville Metro Police Department, Seaman deposited four government-issued savings bonds at a Central Bank branch on Outer Loop on April 30, 2026. The next day, according to investigators, Seaman went to the Central Bank location on Main Street, requested to withdraw the funds from the prior day’s deposit and left the branch with approximately $37,000 in cash.
The bank later received notice the savings bonds were fake, resulting in a financial loss to the institution. Detectives used bank surveillance video to identify Seaman.
Seaman is scheduled to appear in Jefferson District Court but he is currently being held in the Meade County Detention Center.
