A man was arrested Saturday afternoon after allegedly jumping onto multiple vehicles on a busy Louisville road, including an ambulance, then later trying to steal a car from a nearby gas station.
Malual None Amor Arob, 27, is charged with carjacking, first degree criminal mischief, second degree disorderly conduct, tampering with physical evidence and resisting arrest, according to court documents.
At approximately 6:20 p.m., Louisville Metro Police officers responded to the intersection of Cane Run Rd. and Shanks Lane following a 10-30 (officer needs help) code relayed by EMS.
Upon arriving at the scene, EMS told the responding officers that while they were on the way to a call for service, Amor Arob allegedly jumped in front of their ambulance, causing them to stop.
According to court documents, Amor Arob then jumped on the hood and windshield of the ambulance, cracking the windshield and breaking a wiper.
EMS told police that after Amor Arob jumped back down to the ground, he came around to side door of the ambulance and entered the vehicle. Amor Arob allegedly told the EMS workers in the ambulance that he wanted them to kill him, according to his arrest citation.
Police say that after EMS was able to get Amor Arob out of the ambulance, he then made his way northbound on Cane Run Road. Multiple callers witnessed him jumping onto random vehicles driving down Cane Run Road, according to court documents.
Amor Arob then allegedly made his way to the Speedway at 4340 Cane Run Road, acting belligerent and stating to employees that he wanted to die and wanted someone to kill him.
According to his arrest citation, Amor Arob then jumped onto the counter by the register and began screaming. The employee behind the counter pushed him off the counter, striking her in the mouth and causing a bloody lip as he fell, per his arrest citation.
Amor Arob is then accused of leaving the store and opening the door of a vehicle at the front of the station before sitting in the driver’s seat. Police say Amor Arob then tried to take the car, which had two other occupants in it. He was unable to drive the vehicle because it required a key fob, which was in possession of the driver inside the store.
Police say Amor Arob got out of the vehicle after realizing he couldn’t steal it and began to scream belligerent statements. During this time, Amor Arob is also accused of grabbing an elderly woman and attempting to throw her around.
The woman stated this caused her to have minor chest pains and would drive herself to the hospital.
It was at this point that officers arrived on scene of the Speedway, requiring three officers approximately two minutes to detain him, according to court records.
While handcuffed police say Amor Arob was able to pull an unknown substance out of his pants pocket and swallow it. He was then taken to the hospital to be evaluated for drug ingestion.
Amor Arob is currently being held at Louisville Metro Department of Corrections. He is expected in court for his arraignment on October 5.
